From Our Youth Minister

Everyone take your positions. The journey is about to begin. Are you ready? Have you made the proper preparations? It is time. On your mark, get set, GO!!!!

The school year is already under way, as well as a new Church Year. We have begun a new series here at Royston Baptist. We have gone out of our comfort zone in order to let others know what is happening here at Royston Baptist Church. And this is just the beginning.

Under this umbrella of “new,” the Youth have worked together in order to bring about some changes to our group. Together, they wanted to give a more unified front and let others know what they stand for. So with this came two things: a new name for the Youth Group, as well as a new name for the Youth Room.

The Youth have decided to name themselves Against the Grain, or simply, A.T.G. for short. Together, we want to work together and go “against the grain” of what society tells us we should do. The world tells us it’s all about “me” and “my” problems. We should only care or love “me.” But we want to be different. We want to follow Jesus’ command in John 13:34b when he says, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” It is our desires to look at the example set forth by Christ and love each and every person we can. This is what will set us apart and put us “Against the Grain.”

The Youth have also decided to rename the Youth Room “The Tree house.” This keeps the them of the tree already there, as well as name of the youth group, since the term, “against the grain,” is a woodworking term.

We are so excited about what God has in store for not only A.T.G., but also the entire Church family. We know that God can do great things. For God is good, all the time. And all the time, God is good.
