Kevin demonstrates the water level—it initially went up to the ceiling, but receded to the line just below Kevin’s hand and stayed there for about two weeks.

The height of fashion in the lower 9th ward—these masks made it safe for us to work, but they were not comfortable.

Mr. & Mrs. Zito lived in the house we worked on for 35 years until they evacuated before Katrina in August, 2005.

The Pile—Day 1.

Each evening the city would come around and collect everything that we tore out of the house, and we would start a new pile the next morning.
