Pastor — Rev. Jonathan Barlow

What do you do?
I came to Royston Baptist in 2010.  I think of myself as Pastor, instead of some of the other terms you could use (preacher, reverend, brother). Pastor means I walk with the people through their holy moments. I am lucky enough to bless newborns, to say, “buried with Christ in baptism, now rise to walk in newness of life!” during baptisms, bring the Word of God for the people of God, and pray with families as they grieve the loss of their loved ones. I try to walk with people in their most holy moments, reminding them of the love of God.  On the ordinary days, I strive to help them to serve God with their gifts day in and day out.

Tell us about your family.
I am married to the most beautiful gal in the whole world, Susan.  We have been married since 2007.  We have three fun loving, wide open, boys Peyton (5), Nolan (3), and Boston (under 1).

What do you enjoy and how do you spend your free time?
I started a doctoral program in 2014, so free time is limited.  The boys consume most of the free time.  If there is more, I enjoy the outdoors.  Currently, I am obsessed with running and golfing.  l listen to audiobooks when I drive and am currently devouring epic fantasy books.   I pull for the University of Mississippi first and always: Hotty Toddy!  During basketball season I split my allegiance between the University of Kentucky and Duke University and my In-laws are close to disowning me for liking Duke.  If those teams are on TV, I will probably make time to watch them.

I have been at RBC since 2007 and am a woman on the go. When I am not leading worship, conducting the choir, or singing crazy action songs with the RBC kids, I am busy as a music professor at Emmanuel College, operate a private voice studio, serve as a director for Emmanuel Arts Academy, and perform as a soloist.  I received my Doctor of Arts degree in vocal performance from Ball State University; Master of Music degree from Pittsburg State University, and her Bachelor of Music Ministry degree from Ozark Christian College.

Youth MINISTER — JT Turner

What do you do?

I am a junior at Emmanuel College. I play basketball as well as run track there. I am an early childhood education major with dreams of becoming a special education teacher. Becoming a youth pastor wasn’t one of the things I thought I’d be when I came out of high school. I came to the Lord my freshman year of college and have been continuing to grow in my walk ever since. I am very excited for this new opportunity. One thing I am really looking forward to is watching the youth fall in love with God

Tell us about your family.

I have the two most loving parents a person could ask for and a younger brother I can honestly say I look up to because of his independence and maturity.

What do you enjoy and how do you spend your free time?

My favorite thing in the world is creating fun memories that will last a lifetime. So I spend most of my free time with family and friends doing fun and spontaneous activities. Basketball also takes up a big part of my time because I have been doing it since as long as I can remember. Basketball was something that my dad and I could bond over and I think it is one of the biggest reasons we are so close.
