God Pursues and Catches Up

The picture of God calling His people out to be in right relationship with Him is not new.  It is found in the Old Testament through the prophets, priests, and maybe even the kings attempting to keep the people of God in good standing with God.

As we have seen through the Book the Twelve, they failed!  They try and they fail!  They ask forgiveness and they fall back to their human ways.  They just can’t do it.  But God doesn’t give up on them.  Mal 3: 6 “For I the Lord do not change.”  God continues to pursue the people of God and God will always do it because God does not change.

And so now we, as followers of Christ, are also a part of this great heritage.  We are called to pursue holiness and relationship with God. We too from time to time fail just as they did, but we are part of the calling out nonetheless. And so now we are called to tell others about the love of God, the ways of God, and the life that God offers just as the early church was called to do through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible is full of places where we are called to  “Go and make disciples…” Matthew 28:19, …bring the good news!” Romans 10:15, to have “Everyone… be saved.” Romans 10:13, to have all “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28, to give to all eternal life “I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10, to see none perish “…not wanting any to perish, but all to come” 2nd Peter 3:9, and for us to baptize, “For John baptized with water, but you will baptize with the Holy Spirit…” Acts 1:5.

The end of the Bible speaks to this pursuit of God on our lives, “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all… “ Rev. 22:21.

God wants us to be caught!  God wants us to be restored. God wants all to have the grace of Jesus Christ.  God invites us to share in the joy of telling others about the pursuit God has for each to know Him.

Who are you bringing into the Kingdom of God?  Who are you inviting into relationship with God?  How beautiful are your feet?

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’” Isaiah 52: 7

I can’t wait to see how lives are changed because God pursues and God catches up to people in our midst and through our love, our telling of The Story, and our pursuit of holiness through obedience to God!

God please use us to be your hands and feet this fall. Please call others out, please catch up to people, and add them into your Kingdom!  Amen
