Lesson from My Baby Boy

Mark 10:14b-15

“Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. 15 Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.”

Lessons From My Baby Boy

A Poem by Jonathan Barlow

You leave the room and I cry
I cry because I love you
I cry because I want you near
I cry because I am uncertain of your return.

You enter the room and I laugh
I laugh because I love you
I laugh because I am overjoyed by you
I laugh because I am safe when you are here

You hold me close and I coo
I coo because I love you
I coo because I trust you
I coo because I need you near

You feed me and I clap
I clap because I love you
I clap because I was hungry
I clap because I know you fill my need

You say no and I pout
I pout because I love you
I pout because I am stubborn
I pout because I know I disappointed you

You say I love you and I smile
I smile because I love you too
I smile because I know I am loved
I smile because I want you to know I love you too!

Oh Precious Abba,
Help each of us to realize we are the children in the poem. We are the ones that cry, laugh, coo, clap, pout, and smile. You, Abba, our the parent that loves us. Give us faith like a child today.
